Restless Leg Syndrome
Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) is a disorder characterized by an individual’s constant need to move his or her legs due to unpleasant sensations.
The cause of RLS is unknown. Possible causes or related problems include kidney disease, anemia (lack of iron in blood), vitamin deficiencies, nerve or muscle disorders, lack of blood circulation to the legs, pregnancy medications and caffeine consumption.
Signs and symptoms of restless leg syndrome include creepy, crawly, itching or pulling sensations, uncontrollable urge to move the legs and painful sensations of calves and thighs. Symptoms tend to worsen at rest or just prior to sleep onset.
