Polysomnogram

A diagnostic recording of sleep, called a polysomnogram, is often performed overnight in the sleep laboratory. Electrodes and sensors placed on the body measure several parameters including sleep cycles, airflow, respiratory effort, muscle activity, blood oxygen levels, heart rate and rhythm. This monitoring determines a possible disruptive pattern of sleep. A diagnosis is made from the gathered data. Further testing may be required.
